ماهو القرين؟ هو الشّيء الّذي يلازم شيئاً آخر أينما كان. هو شيءٌ يلازم الإنسان في حلّه وترحاله، وهو معلّقٌ به، وتكمن وظيفته الحقيقيّة بالإيحاء إلى الإنسان ولبسه. يعدّ حديث النّفس من فعل القرين، فمن منّا لا تحدّثه نفسه. وقال صلّى الله عليه وسلّم عن ذلك: (فلا يأمرني إلّا بخير). قال الرّسول صلّى الله عليه وسلّم: (ما منكم من أحدٍ إلّا وقد وُكّل به قرينه من الجنّ وقرينه من الملائكة!!، قالوا : وإيّاك يا رسول الله؟ قال: وإيّاي، ولكن الله أعانني عليه فأسلم، فلا يأمرني إلّا بخير). عرّف البعض القرين بأنّه شيطانٌ مسلّط على الإنسان بإذن الله عزّ وجل يأمره بالفحشاء، وينهاه عن المعروف، ودليل ذلك قوله تعالى: (الشّيطان يعدكم الفقر ويأمركم بالفحشاء). ولكن إذا منَّ الله تعالى على العبد بقلبٍ سليم صادق، فإنّه يقوّيه على قرينه، ومن ذلك قوله تعالى: (وإمّا ينزغنّك من الشّيطان نزغٌ فاستعذ بالله إنّه هو السّميع العليم). كلّ إنسانٍ له قرينٌ من الملائكة وقرينٌ من الشّياطين، ولكلٍّ منهما لمّة بالإنسان، وجاء ذلك في الحديث الصّحيح؛ حيث قال الرّسول صلّى الله عليه وسلّم: (فإذا هميت بطاعةٍ فتلك لمّة الملك ( القرين )
